Readdle updated PDF Expert for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 this week, adding searchable handwriting in 29 languages. The new Handwriting Recognition feature indexes handwritten notes within individual PDFs and across the entire library, including annotations from other apps. It's available to PDF Expert Premium users; free users can still convert handwriting to typed text via the Text tool.

The update also adds support for the Apple Pencil Pro squeeze gesture, which opens the tool palette for switching pens, markers, highlighters, shapes, stamps, signatures, and measurement tools, plus adjusting color, thickness, and opacity. This requires an Apple Pencil Pro and compatible iPad.

Finally, the Liquid Glass look expands across the interface, including the sidebar, document viewer and toolbar, and Presentation mode. Dedicated undo and redo buttons are now accessible from the document view.
