In a separate move, OpenAI has paused its planned erotic mode for ChatGPT. The feature was announced in October by CEO Sam Altman as part of age-verification updates, with plans to roll it out in December. The announcement sparked controversy, with Altman stating OpenAI would not act as "the elected moral police of the world."

However, by March 6, reports indicated the adult mode would be indefinitely delayed. Sources cited challenges with sexual datasets and eliminating illegal content as key obstacles. The Financial Times confirmed the pause is indefinite, marking a significant retreat from Altman's earlier stance on user freedom and content moderation.
