OpenAI has announced significant price reductions for two of its GPT-5.6 models, Terra and Luna, with benefits extending to both API customers and ChatGPT users.

The flagship Terra model will see a 20% price decrease, now costing $2 per million input tokens and $12 per million output tokens. The faster and more affordable Luna model is experiencing an even steeper reduction, with an 80% price drop, making it $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens.

These cost savings are also being passed on to users of OpenAI's subscription services, including ChatGPT Work and Codex. While monthly subscription prices remain unchanged, OpenAI has adjusted token usage for the Terra and Luna models. This means users can now accomplish more tasks before reaching their token limits, effectively increasing the value of their paid subscriptions.
