Apple is reportedly preparing a MacBook Ultra for fall release as part of its expanding Ultra product line. According to Bloomberg, this model represents a complete redesign that's thinner and lighter than the current MacBook Pro. The device was initially expected under the Pro branding before shifting to Ultra designation.

The MacBook Ultra could debut Apple's M6 chip family, built on a new 2nm process. At minimum, M6 Pro and M6 Max variants will power the machine, though standard M6 might also be available. This represents a significant upgrade over current M-series processors.

Apple's Mac lineup finally gets touchscreen capability, with the MacBook Ultra serving as the first model to support touch input. macOS Golden Gate includes touch-optimized controls, though touch functions as a secondary input rather than replacing traditional keyboard and trackpad navigation.

OLED display technology arrives on Mac for the first time, promising better contrast and battery life. The Dynamic Island replaces the 2021 MacBook Pro's notch, potentially housing Siri AI integration. Cellular connectivity via Apple's C2 modem remains possible but unlikely before 2026. These features signal Apple's push to modernize Mac hardware while maintaining professional appeal.
