As Apple battles ongoing supply constraints, availability of the MacBook Air is dwindling quickly. From Apple’s Online Store, almost all configurations quote delivery estimates of 2-3 weeks. In-store pickup availability is during the first week of September. Custom configurations with higher RAM and storage are even more constrained, with some taking over a month to ship.

Bloomberg spotted the shortages earlier this month, attributing them to industry-wide memory constraints. Mark Gurman noted Apple is actively pushing shoppers to the MacBook Pro. During Apple’s most recent earnings call, CFO Kevan Parekh warned supply constraints affecting iPhone, iPad, and Mac will worsen as the quarter progresses.

However, availability seems better from some retail partners. On Amazon, several MacBook Air models are available with immediate delivery, often discounted below Apple’s normal price. Apple’s Certified Refurbished Store also offers select configurations with immediate shipment, including a one-year warranty and 14-day return policy.

If you’re in the market for a MacBook Air, buying sooner rather than later is recommended. Supply shortages are expected to worsen before improving, and no new MacBook Air launch is expected until next year.
