Apple launched its next-generation M6 chip this week in the new Mac mini, with several more products slated for upgrades. In Fall 2026, likely October, Apple is rumored to launch the 14-inch base model Mac Book Pro and a new i Mac. Per Mark Gurman, Apple is skipping Pro and Max versions of the M6 chip, meaning only the entry Mac Book Pro will get M6; M7 Pro and M7 Max are expected in 2027. The i Mac isn’t expected to change much beyond the M6 chip and a fresh slate of colors. Notably absent is the rumored Mac Book Ultra, expected to launch with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips instead.

In Spring 2027, the i Pad Pro and Mac Book Air are rumored to receive M6 upgrades. The i Pad Pro, last updated in fall 2025 with M5, follows its typical 18-month cycle and may add a vapor chamber for cooling. The Mac Book Air could arrive in the February-April window, with March a safe bet. Both devices should retain current designs, with OLED upgrades not expected until 2028. Apple says the M6’s 2-nanometer process brings “a major leap in performance and power efficiency,” potentially boosting battery life.
