David Richards, writing for Channel News Australia, said Apple will unveil the first foldable iPhone at its September 8 event but will not release the device to market immediately, citing supply, testing and pricing problems that could leave Australia missing out for months. A major Chinese component supplier confirmed Apple is battling these issues.

Australian carriers and a retailer have confirmed the Apple Fold will be a “no show” on local shelves when the new iPhone 18 range lands, with limited supply to roll out in the USA first, followed by key markets including China. The report notes the situation could make a US‑only release a temporary solution, though the claim appears speculative.

While the report cites Labor Day on September 7 as a factor, Apple typically chooses the second Tuesday, making September 9 a more likely date for the launch event.

Given the limited supply, Apple may choose a phased rollout, shipping in September in the US and gradually adding territories rather than delaying the launch.
