This fall, Apple is set to introduce two entirely new iPhone screen sizes with the upcoming iPhone Ultra, marking a significant departure from its current lineup. For years, iPhones have largely stuck to two main sizes: approximately 6.1-6.3 inches and a larger 6.7-6.9 inches. The iPhone Ultra, however, is rumored to feature a ~5.3-inch outer display and a substantially larger ~7.6-inch inner display.

These dimensions represent a notable shift. The outer screen will be smaller than current models, while the inner screen will be larger than even the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The device is expected to be shorter and wider than other modern iPhones, potentially offering a unique user experience.

With these new screen dimensions, questions arise about how iOS and apps will adapt. Early indications from the iOS 27 beta suggest Apple is focusing on enhanced landscape mode support for apps, encouraging third-party developers to optimize their applications for the larger, iPad mini-like inner display.
