CNET Labs compared 33 current smartphones, averaging wired and wireless charge times to produce a single performance score. iPhone 17 Pro emerged as the fastest overall charger, edging out competitors in both modalities. The test simulated real‑world conditions, starting from a 10% battery state and measuring gain after a 30‑minute top‑up. The roster included Samsung, Google and Motorola.

When wired results are isolated, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra topped the list with a 76% charge gain, while the iPhone 17 Pro logged 74% in the same window. Motorola’s Moto G Stylus (2025) and OnePlus 15 followed closely. On the wireless side, the iPhone 17 Pro also claimed first place, adding 55% in 30 minutes, with its Pro Max sibling close behind.

CNET attributes the wireless edge to Apple’s MagSafe system, which keeps the charging coil perfectly aligned unlike generic Qi2 implementations. To hit advertised speeds, users must pair a 30W‑plus power brick with a MagSafe charger that supports fast charging. Consumers who prioritize quick top‑ups will likely see tangible day‑to‑day benefits.
