Apple's iPhone 17 Pro has grabbed the top spot in CNET's charging speed test of 33 smartphones, beating out Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra in the overall ranking. The 17 Pro's 4,252mAh battery fills up quicker than the 5,000mAh-plus batteries common in rival flagships, and its 40-watt wired and 25-watt Qi2.2 wireless charging help it pull ahead.

In wired charging alone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra led with 76% gained in 30 minutes, while the iPhone 17 Pro hit 74%. Apple's four iPhone 17 models plus the iPhone Air averaged 54.6% charging speed across all categories, dwarfing Samsung's 38.5% average across nine tested phones.

The 17 Pro also led wireless charging at 55% in 30 minutes. Battery life tells a different story — the 17 Pro Max topped endurance testing. Silicon-carbon batteries helped the OnePlus 15 hit 72%, but Apple and Samsung haven't adopted the technology yet.
