Google's Offline Voice Dictation App Debuts

Google launched Google AI Edge Eloquent, an iOS app offering offline voice dictation without subscriptions. The tool converts speech to text in real-time with a waveform display, then cleans up the transcription and copies it to your clipboard when you stop recording.

Users can format text as key points, make it more formal, short, or long. A toggle enables fully offline mode where conversations stay on device. The app includes a history tab and allows custom dictionaries, with Google Account integration to import words from Gmail messages.

This product represents Google's push into on-device AI experiences under the "AI Edge" branding. The app joins Google AI Edge Gallery which hosts Gemma models. Currently only available on iOS, its absence from the Play Store suggests Android support may come later.
