Crimson Desert: A Rare AAA Game Launching Day One on Mac

Mac gamers are in for a treat. A major AAA title, Crimson Desert, will launch on macOS simultaneously with its PC and console counterparts. This is a departure from the norm, as significant AAA games often arrive on the Mac platform much later, if at all. The game is an open-world action-adventure title from Pearl Abyss, marking a rare day-one release for Apple's ecosystem.

Historically, the Mac has lagged behind PCs in the gaming space, with fewer titles and delayed releases. Apple has been working to change this. Last summer, Apple highlighted that Crimson Desert would utilize technologies like MetalFX Upscaling to boost performance and visual quality. The game will also take advantage of the M3 and M4 chip families' ray tracing capabilities.

Crimson Desert is set to arrive on March 19th. Pre-orders are available on Steam, with the Standard edition priced at $69.99 and the Deluxe edition at $79.99. This simultaneous launch signals a potential shift in how major game developers view the Mac platform, offering a boost to gaming on Apple devices.
