Apple has been working on camera-equipped AirPods for quite some time, with Visual Intelligence at the forefront of the product. While initially rumored for this year, development seemed pushed back until next year. However, a new possibility suggests we might see the first version of camera-equipped AirPods later this year.

Apple is reportedly developing two distinct variants. One, codenamed B798, is set to debut in 2027 and is expected to be a more advanced version. Meanwhile, a second variant, codenamed B790, appears to be much further along in development. References to the B790 device have already surfaced within iOS 27 code.

It remains unclear exactly how the B790 and B798 versions will differ or if both will reach the market. However, reports suggest these AirPods may feature slightly longer stems to house the cameras and an LED indicator for cloud data transmission. We could see these new accessories as soon as this September.
