Ming-Chi Kuo has dramatically revised his outlook on Apple's Vision hardware lineup, cutting the planned portfolio from seven devices to just two. The analyst shared the update on X, revealing that John Ternus signed off on this major overhaul. Apple previously explored multiple head-mounted wearables beyond the Vision Pro.

According to Kuo, only two smart glasses products remain in active development. The first is display-less AI glasses targeting a 2027 release, while the second features optical waveguides and aims for 2029. Both represent a significant pivot away from traditional mixed reality headsets toward lightweight eyewear.

This contradicts recent reporting from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who indicated Apple is developing a slimmer Vision Pro successor for 2028-2029. The discrepancy suggests either outdated information or that any headset replacement is in early stages. Either way, the Vision Pro ecosystem needs clarity.

Apple's scaled-back approach reflects market realities: the Vision Pro's $3,499 price point limited adoption, and battery life concerns hampered mainstream appeal. Consumers can expect modest updates at WWDC rather than revolutionary hardware.
