Apple and its Indian supplier Tata Electronics face a massive data breach that exposed over 630GB of files, including manufacturing specs and employee records. Reuters reports that more than 200,000 documents were posted on the dark web earlier this month, revealing sensitive details about iPhone components and internal processes.

In response, Tata has tightened internal access to critical systems and hired a global consulting firm for a forensic audit. Apple’s security team is collaborating closely with Tata, assessing immediate and long‑term safeguards. The supplier has also notified local authorities and affected partners, though it withheld company names publicly.

The leak includes Apple manufacturing specifications, quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit board components, emails, employee passport copies, and years of system logs. It also contains at least 16 files from TSMC and 23 from Qualcomm, detailing component reliability tests, power‑management circuits, and internal Apple part‑number mappings.

Neither Apple nor Tata has issued a public statement beyond the investigative updates. The breach highlights the fragility of supply‑chain security for premium electronics and could pressure manufacturers to tighten controls on confidential data. The incident underscores the need for robust cyber hygiene across all tiers of production.
