Apple filed a blockbuster lawsuit against OpenAI on Friday, accusing the company of trade secret theft. One stat stood out: more than 400 former Apple employees now work at OpenAI. Apple argues this explains why OpenAI personnel have knowledge of confidential information, which they're obligated to keep secret. However, Apple claims OpenAI exploits this information to extract more from current employees and structure interviews to solicit additional secrets.

Bloomberg reports employees across countless Apple teams have left for OpenAI. Most recently, Paul Meade, who led Apple Vision Pro and smart glasses projects, was poached. Most of OpenAI's Apple recruits come from the engineering division led by incoming CEO John Ternus. Tang Tan, OpenAI's hardware chief and former Apple design chief, reportedly had a "strained" relationship with Ternus at Apple.

The lawsuit outcome remains uncertain, but it promises to be a fascinating saga, especially if it reaches discovery.
