Apple today expanded its Apple Sports app to more than 90 new countries, bringing the total reach to 170 countries and regions worldwide. The app now launches in key markets including Australia, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, covering Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. This follows the initial release in North America, South America, and Europe.

The update introduces specialized features for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a tournament bracket view that lets fans track matchups from group stage through the final. Enhanced game cards display visual formations for starting lineups, providing tactical insights. Users can also tap directly into Apple News for editorial coverage, while Live Activities integration shows scores on the iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats, emphasized that the World Cup's global appeal made it the perfect launch moment. He noted the app was built for speed and simplicity, delivering real-time scores and stats. The service currently remains exclusive to iPhone, with no mention of iPad or Mac versions.
