Apple is rolling out release candidate (RC) versions of iPadOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, and more. Release candidates are intended to be the exact software builds that ship to all users in the public release. It is not unusual for Apple to discover new bugs in an RC that lead it to debut a second RC, but typically any changes in those subsequent builds are minimal.
Even though the current public software version is 27.0, the company is reportedly limiting 27.1 to iPhone Duo. Most devices are therefore skipping straight to 27.2.
New features in these updates include Messages Suggested Actions, Profiles arriving on iPad in the Apple TV app, a new app icon and updated design for Apple Music, an overhauled Up Next queue in Apple Podcasts, more languages supported for Siri AI, and new automation controls for compatible smart locks in Home. iPad also gets a new Siri contextual popup.
Apple is expected to launch iPadOS 27.2 and its other new updates by the end of October, likely early next week. 9to5Mac will keep readers posted on anything new discovered in the RC builds.
