Apple Mail in iOS 27: Better Search and AI-Driven Replies

Apple is overhauling its Mail app in iOS 27 to fix long-standing frustrations with search and automation. A new ranking system aims to surface the most relevant emails first, addressing a history of search failures where users couldn't find existing messages. These changes focus on speed and reliability, including faster message loading and more accurate unread badges.

Integration with Apple Intelligence brings a personalized touch to Smart Reply, which now mimics a user's specific writing style rather than offering generic templates. Siri also gains direct control over the inbox through new buttons. Users can now instruct Siri to bulk delete messages from specific senders, simplifying the process of cleaning out spam.

Third-party apps can now integrate into the suggestion system at the top of emails. If multiple apps offer an action, a drop-down menu lets users choose between options like tracking shipments or creating calendar events. This shift makes iOS 27 more flexible by allowing outside developers to trigger actions directly from a user's inbox.
