Apple Mac supply constraints to continue months

Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the quarterly earnings call that supply constraints for Mac mini and Mac Studio will persist for several months. Many configurations of these pro desktops are completely out of stock as customer interest in agentic AI use cases drives demand beyond what Apple predicted. The company under-estimated how much it should produce to meet this unexpected surge in AI-focused computing needs.

The supply issues extend beyond desktops. Apple is also forecasting ongoing constraints for the MacBook Neo, with Cook noting demand for the low-cost laptop is "off the charts" and helped Apple set a record for acquiring new Mac users. Component memory pricing continues to rise, forcing Apple to explore "several options" to mitigate the impact on its product lineup.

Cook specifically cited the availability of advanced nodes for producing Apple Silicon chips as the primary constraint. Significant lead times exist to meeting higher demand levels, meaning it will take several months before Apple reaches supply-demand balance on these machines. The company faces persistent challenges in the semiconductor industry that affect its entire Mac product family.
