Apple Frames 4 Shortcut Gets Massive Overhaul with CLI Tool

Federico Viticci has released Apple Frames 4, a complete overhaul of his popular shortcut that frames screenshots with official Apple product bezels. The update dramatically reduces the shortcut from over 800 steps to around 300, making it faster and more reliable while supporting all current Apple devices. This major update introduces customizable frame colors, allowing users to choose from all official Apple bezel colors rather than being limited to defaults.

The new version adds support for device variants, letting users select specific models like iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro for framing. A significant improvement is proportional scaling when merging screenshots from different devices - previously, an iPhone screenshot would appear as tall as an iPad Pro when displayed side by side. The update now respects each device's physical proportions for more accurate representations.

Beyond the shortcut overhaul, Viticci built a command-line interface that lets developers and marketers frame screenshots directly from Terminal on Mac. This CLI integrates with agentic app development workflows, allowing tools like Claude or Codex to automatically generate framed screenshots during the development process. The Apple Frames CLI represents a significant enhancement for professionals who work with device screenshots daily.
