Apple’s CarPlay gets a visual refresh in iOS 27, adding a gallery of 18 wallpapers. The designs echo the stylized “27” motif already rolling out across iOS, iPadOS and macOS Golden Gate sets. While CarPlay only received a brief mention at WWDC 26, the update also brings Siri AI, video‑app support and refreshed icons. Developers can now reference the assets when designing third‑party CarPlay apps.

The expanded palette gives users a broader range of color choices for their dashboard, a subtle but welcome personalization option for drivers who spend hours tethered to the system. Apple hosts direct download links on its support page, letting anyone with a compatible head unit swap the default background without jailbreaking or third‑party tools. Colors include teal, amber, violet and muted gray.

Downloading the files requires no special software; a simple click saves the PNGs to the device, after which CarPlay’s settings menu lets users apply any of the 18 variants. Early adopters have already shared screenshots, confirming the colors render accurately on both wired and wireless installations. The move reinforces Apple’s strategy of incremental UI tweaks to keep the ecosystem fresh.
