BreezeBio secured $60 million in Series B funding, accelerating its pivot from technology developer to creator of genetic medicines targeting autoimmune diseases. The South San Francisco-based startup, formerly GenEdit, specializes in NanoGalaxy nanoparticles that deliver genetic cargo to specific organs with precision.

The company's lead candidate, BRZ-101, aims to retrain immune cells to suppress destructive inflammation in Type 1 diabetes. BreezeBio plans to advance this therapy into final preclinical studies this year, potentially addressing a condition with no existing curative treatment.

The financing round, co-led by Yuanta Investment and DSC Investment, will support BreezeBio's expansion into "in vivo" cell therapies while strengthening its position in the competitive genetic medicine market. The company has already attracted partnerships with pharmaceutical giants including Sarepta Therapeutics, Editas Medicine, and Genentech.
