14.ai Raises $3M to Replace Customer Support Teams

A married founder duo's AI startup 14.ai has raised $3 million in seed funding to replace traditional customer support teams at startups. The company, backed by Y Combinator with participation from General Catalyst and angel investors including Dropbox and Slack founders, operates as an AI-native customer support agency rather than a pure software company.

Founders Marie Schneegans and Michael Fester met in Paris over a decade ago and previously built separate companies before joining forces. Schneegans co-founded Workwell, while Fester created Snips, acquired by Sonos in 2019. They launched 14.ai to combine software and services, taking over entire customer support operations for clients using their purpose-built AI stack.

The startup claims it can integrate with a support system within 24 hours and clear ticket backlogs across channels including email, calls, chat, and social media platforms like TikTok and WhatsApp. The company demonstrated this capability by taking over a men's health supplement company's support operation and clearing all tickets within hours.
