A British tourist died and his wife was seriously injured when they fell 82 feet from a zip line during a 'bucket list' adventure in Australia. Dean Anson Sanderson, 50, and his wife Sharon were zip-lining at Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours in Cape Tribulation when they lost momentum and plunged to the ground on October 22, 2019.

Sharon told the court they were traveling at high speed when they suddenly dropped. Dean, a father of three, suffered fatal head and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sharon sustained broken ribs and a fractured scapula. The couple had embarked on the trip after Dean survived a serious health crisis years earlier, prompting him to pursue life experiences he'd always wanted.

Court testimony revealed troubling details about the response. Another tourist with medical training had to take control of the scene when staff couldn't operate a defibrillator. Employees reportedly had no practical experience with emergency equipment despite being shown how to use it. The zip line operator, Keydane, is no longer registered, and the attraction is now listed as permanently closed.
