Yale Scholar Reveals Trump's 'Wall of Sound' Strategy

Yale leadership scholar Jeffrey Sonnenfeld warns in his new book _Trump's Ten Commandments_ that President Trump's chaotic style is a calculated strategy rather than incompetence. Speaking with Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov, Sonnenfeld described Trump as 'dumb as a fox' with 'incredible street savvy' who business leaders underestimate at their peril.

Sonnenfeld, who has known Trump for decades and conducted dozens of conversations with him, identified 'the wall of sound' as one of Trump's most effective tactics. Drawing parallels to Phil Spector's music production technique, Sonnenfeld explained how Trump keeps 'so many instruments blaring at once' to disorient the public and shift focus from damaging domestic issues like healthcare losses or the Jeffrey Epstein revelations.

Sonnenfeld argues business leaders hold the key to countering Trump through collective action, citing the 2017 Charlottesville business exodus as proof of concept. However, he notes CEOs are paralyzed by fear after watching Trump attack major corporations including JPMorgan, Bank of America, and iconic brands like Coca-Cola and Harley-Davidson. The scholar emphasizes that business leaders must understand Trump's pattern of behavior to anticipate and respond to his maneuvers effectively.
