The World Health Organization confirmed Monday that Gandhi Hospital in Tehran was evacuated after nearby explosions caused collateral damage during Israeli strikes. Patients were moved from the facility following the attacks that began on February 28 as part of the U.S.-Israeli air campaign against Iran. The WHO is working to verify reports of damage to three other medical centers across the country.

Witnesses reported on March 1 that Gandhi Hospital had been directly hit by Israeli strikes. The WHO spokesperson said the organization is investigating alleged damage to Motahari Hospital in Tehran, an emergency medical center in Sarab in northwestern Iran, and another facility in the western province of Hamadan. The WHO maintains a country office in Iran and works with the government on health emergencies and disease control.

Iran's ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, told the Human Rights Council that hospitals had been subjected to "indiscriminate attacks" without providing specifics. The WHO seeks to verify attacks on health systems globally without attributing blame. The organization's involvement highlights the growing humanitarian concerns as the conflict between Iran and the U.S.-Israeli coalition continues to escalate.
