Police in Pitt County, North Carolina, arrested two undocumented men after a midnight home invasion left a victim hospitalized. Deputies responded to 200 Louis Street in Greenville’s Cherry Oaks neighborhood at 3:16 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2026, and found evidence of forced entry, assault and kidnapping. The suspects were identified as 20‑year‑old homeless Jonathan David Garcia‑Lario and 21‑year‑old Chapel Hill resident Zaid Mayen.

Both men now face four first‑degree felony counts: burglary, kidnapping, forcible sex offense and assault with a deadly weapon intended to kill. Investigators recovered additional evidence at a Chapel Hill apartment roughly two hours from the crime scene. The Department of Homeland Security has been notified, and ICE detainers were placed, signaling potential immigration enforcement after the criminal proceedings.

Garcia‑Lario was booked into the Franklin County Detention Center before being transferred to Pitt County without bond; Mayen remains in Orange County custody, also without bond. The U.S. Marshals Service and Chapel Hill Police assisted in the arrests. With ICE involvement likely, the case underscores how violent crimes intersect with immigration enforcement, leaving the victims to recover while the suspects await trial.
