Two golfers have filed a lawsuit against President Trump and his administration over plans to take over public golf courses in Washington, D.C. Dave Roberts and Alex Dickson, described as frequent patrons of East Potomac Golf Links, are challenging the proposed takeover with support from the DC Preservation League. The lawsuit alleges violations of environmental and historic preservation laws.

President Trump has expressed intentions to transform the courses into world-class venues capable of hosting major tournaments. The complaint targets potential violations of the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and the 1897 congressional act that established the park as public recreation space. The White House has defended the plans, with spokesman Taylor Rogers stating Trump's team would redevelop the courses to restore prestige.

The legal challenge comes as President Trump seeks to expand his golf empire, already owning three prominent courses in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. While the administration hasn't revealed specific plans for the D.C. courses, President Trump previously told reporters he aims to create U.S. Open-caliber facilities that would bring significant business to Washington. The lawsuit seeks to halt the project and block any changes to existing lease arrangements until federal approvals undergo full review.
