President Donald Trump has reversed course on attending the USA vs. Canada men's hockey gold medal game at the Winter Olympics. The 79-year-old president was initially planning to fly to Italy if the American team reached the final, with security preparations already underway for his potential visit.

Local authorities had begun coordinating security plans for Trump's arrival, including Air Force One standby and arrangements for him to attend both the hockey final and closing ceremony before departing Italy the same day. The report indicated he would have gone straight from the airport to the hockey arena, making only a brief appearance before leaving.

However, Trump will now remain at the White House on Sunday, with scheduled meetings at 8:00am and 12:00pm ET conflicting with the gold medal match at Santa Giulia Arena in Rome. The decision comes amid his ongoing battle with the US Supreme Court, according to reports. The USA team defeated Slovakia 6-2 in the semifinals to reach the final against their Canadian rivals.
