A Florida handyman who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and was later pardoned by President Donald Trump has been sentenced to life in prison for molesting two children. Andrew Paul Johnson, 45, received the sentence after being convicted of lewd molestation and transmitting harmful material to a minor in Hernando County, Florida.

Johnson was among the 1,500-plus people charged in the Capitol riot who received clemency from Trump on his first day back in the White House. However, the pardon did not shield him from prosecution on new criminal charges. Sheriff's deputies began investigating Johnson in July 2025 after allegations surfaced that the abuse began around April 2024, months before his Capitol riot sentencing.

Investigators discovered sexually explicit messages Johnson exchanged with one victim on Discord, where he attempted to move conversations to more private platforms and urged message deletion. Johnson had previously been sentenced in August 2024 to one year in prison for misdemeanor charges related to the riot, where he carried a bullhorn and cursed at police officers after entering the Capitol through a smashed window.
