Misty McMichael, 55, widow of Chicago Bears legend Steve 'Mongo' McMichael, was arrested early Friday in Will County on a domestic battery charge. Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call in Frankfort around 5:25 a.m., where they found McMichael and a man who alleged she choked him during an argument.

Will County sheriff's deputies reported seeing scratches on the man's neck and took McMichael to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. A witness told authorities they heard the pair arguing for hours, followed by loud noises and banging, before finding both on the kitchen floor. McMichael told deputies the dispute did not become physical.

McMichael is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Saturday. The arrest comes just months after her husband's death in April 2025 following a three-year battle with ALS. She served as his primary caregiver during his illness and helped raise awareness about the disease. Steve McMichael, known as 'Mongo,' was 67 when he died and is survived by Misty and their 17-year-old daughter.
