Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch was arrested for DUI after being found nearly three times the legal alcohol limit while driving a county vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol report revealed Couch had a blood alcohol level of 0.212% at 11:30 a.m., far exceeding Georgia's 0.08% legal threshold.

According to investigators, Couch admitted to consuming multiple Four Loko beverages since 6 a.m. that morning. His chief deputy, who pulled him over, reported Couch was so unsteady he doubted the sheriff could walk to the investigator's vehicle. The deputy also noted Couch had recently been hospitalized with a high BAC level.

Couch faces charges of DUI, failure to maintain lane, and open container. Investigators discovered two spilled Bahama Mama cans in his vehicle. The sheriff was booked into his own jail before posting bond hours later. His future as sheriff remains uncertain as the case proceeds through the legal system.
