RSW Airport Cancels 25 Flights Amid Northeast Blizzard

A powerful Northeast blizzard triggered over 2,000 flight cancellations across the United States on Tuesday, with Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers reporting at least 25 flight cancellations as of 10 a.m. on Feb. 24. The storm, which has severely impacted air travel in the Northeast, has created a ripple effect affecting Florida airports.

Nationwide, FlightAware data showed 2,026 cancellations and 721 delays on Feb. 24, with Florida airports experiencing significant disruptions. Orlando International Airport reported 78 cancellations, while Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport saw 91 flights canceled. Major carriers including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Southwest, and United Airlines are waiving change fees for travelers affected by the weather.

Florida airports reported a total of 114 delays and approximately 385 cancellations across the state, with the highest numbers at Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa. Travelers are advised to monitor their flights through airline mobile apps and take advantage of rebooking options, as the weather conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day.
