Officials have released maps showing the devastating scope of the Ranger Road wildfire, which has burned more than 283,000 acres across Kansas and Oklahoma since Tuesday. The fire started near Beaver, Oklahoma, and spread into Clark, Comanche, and Meade counties in Kansas, continuing to burn as of Thursday morning.

Three firefighters in Oklahoma and two in Kansas have been injured battling the blaze, according to officials. In Clark County, Kansas, two homes and an adjacent building have been destroyed. Veterinarian Dr. Randall Spare from the Ashland Veterinary Center has been euthanizing wounded cattle, estimating that 1,000-plus cattle have died or will die as a result of the fire.

The wildfire represents one of the largest active fires in the region, with officials continuing to monitor its spread. Other fires remain active in Kansas as well, though the Ranger Road fire stands as the most significant in terms of acreage consumed and resources deployed to combat it.
