An Oklahoma City bride-to-be is now planning a funeral instead of a wedding after her fiancé was fatally shot at an apartment complex on Feb. 6. Thelisa Sparks described losing 42-year-old Brentley Joseph Mueller as "a senseless and brutal act of violence" that has left her family devastated.

Oklahoma City Police responded to the shooting at approximately 11:17 p.m. and found Mueller suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he died. Authorities say it remains "unclear" what led to the fatal shooting and no arrests have been made in the case.

Sparks and Mueller were preparing for their April wedding after years together. "He got a job. He was giving his all to change his life around, and I think that's the hardest part," Sparks told local media. A GoFundMe campaign has raised $3,151 toward $4,500 in funeral expenses, with donors honoring Mueller's "nurturing heart" and "vibrant spirit."
