Myrtle Beach Realtor Loses License After Office Break-Ins

A Myrtle Beach Realtor has lost his license after breaking into co-workers' offices and accessing their computers unlawfully. Joel Barber, formerly with Century 21 The Harrelson Group, faces a $20,000 penalty and permanent license revocation following an investigation by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Between December 2021 and February 2022, Barber repeatedly accessed colleagues' locked offices and computers, viewing sensitive documents including probate court information, calendars, and emails. Security footage showed him entering the building before early morning warnings appeared on one victim's computer about improper thumb drive removal. Police later found downloaded documents on a flash drive supplied by Barber.

Forensic analysis revealed Barber accessed multiple colleagues' computers and information. His employment was terminated in February 2022 after another employee testified about the break-ins. The disciplinary board determined his actions posed an "extreme risk of harm to the public
