A starving moose attacked Angie Tuffnell outside her home in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, forcing her son Shawn to intervene with extreme measures. The animal had been seeking warmth near a dryer vent when startled by Tuffnell, who was starting her car in frigid temperatures.

Shawn punched the moose, struck it with a shovel, and eventually put it in a headlock to protect his mother. When the animal pushed through their doorway, Angie's boyfriend brought a rifle, and Shawn shot the moose more than 12 times. Both mother and son sustained injuries - Angie suffered a deep leg gash while Shawn cracked a rib.

Wildlife officials confirmed the moose died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was simply starving, not rabid. The Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative's findings highlight the increasing risks as wildlife faces harsh winter conditions. Saskatchewan's Ministry of Community Safety is now urging residents to maintain distance from wildlife, noting that moose cause more attacks annually in Alaska than bears despite being considered less dangerous.
