York Public Library, along with York Ready for Climate Action and York Land Trust, will host "Tides of Change: Our Coast, Our Future," a nine-part climate series running February through April. This marks the library's fifth annual collaboration since York released its Climate Action Plan in 2022, focusing on the Gulf of Maine—one of the fastest-warming ocean regions globally.

The series connects scientific research to on-the-ground experiences along York's coastline, addressing critical issues affecting local businesses and industries. Programs will examine ocean plastic pollution, warming waters' impact on seabirds and marine habitats, and challenges facing Maine's lobstering industry, which faces significant economic threats from climate change.

Expert talks, documentary screenings, and a guided salt marsh walk highlight restoration efforts and community resilience. All nine programs are free to the public, with registration recommended. York's sustained investment in climate education demonstrates a community committed to understanding and addressing the tangible economic and environmental changes reshaping its coastline.
