Comedian Jim Breuer is publicly accusing American Airlines of giving away his first class seats to a pilot, forcing him and his wife into coach on a flight from Honolulu to Phoenix. In a Feb. 18 YouTube video, Breuer claimed the airline downgraded them from first class to row 18 despite having paid thousands for round-trip premium tickets.

Breuer alleged that while waiting to board, he witnessed an airline employee discussing seating arrangements with an off-duty pilot before being informed his seats were "overbooked." The comedian said the employee, identified as supervisor Mark, offered only a $500 voucher as compensation for the downgrade. Breuer rejected the offer, calling the situation "foul" and accusing the airline of lying about overbooking to accommodate its own staff.

The incident occurred during a redeye flight from Honolulu, where the couple had visited their daughter on an externship. Breuer said days passed without contact from airline leadership after filing complaints. He emphasized that while he can accept not getting his way, he cannot tolerate being lied to. The comedian filed complaints with the Department of Transportation before receiving any response from American Airlines, which stated it reserves the right to change seats for operational reasons.
