A Darien man is suing a Port Chester auto repair shop after allegedly paying $12,730.12 for Jeep Wrangler customizations that were never completed. Paul DeRose claims Mad Dog Service Inc. and owner Jon Lovallo refused to return his 2013 Wrangler despite full payment for suspension components, wheels, tires, lighting and accessories.

DeRose's lawsuit alleges the shop ghosted him for months, then demanded an additional $7,000 when he arrived with a tow truck to retrieve the vehicle. The complaint accuses Mad Dog and Lovallo of fraud, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment. According to court documents, four similar complaints against the shop resulted in default judgments.

The case highlights growing concerns about consumer protection in automotive customization services. DeRose's lawsuit seeks immediate return of his vehicle, compensation for lost use, restitution for unjust enrichment, and punitive damages to deter similar conduct. The shop owner could not be reached for comment, and Port Chester police were called but failed to resolve the dispute.
