Israeli prosecutors have indicted two Jerusalem brothers in their 20s for security offenses, including contact with Iranian intelligence and transferring sensitive information. The State Prosecutor's Office filed charges alleging the brothers delivered information to the enemy that could be used against Israel's national security. The indictment states one brother, assisted by the other, maintained contact with Iranian intelligence elements while exchanging various information related to national security.

According to the charges, the brothers were aware they were acting under the direction of Iranian intelligence handlers in exchange for financial compensation. The prosecution has requested an extension of their detention until legal proceedings can be completed. The indictment did not specify whether the brothers were Jewish or Arab, highlighting the broad scope of Iranian recruitment efforts.

This case emerges amid a dramatic surge in Iranian espionage activities targeting Israel. Shin Bet reported a 400% increase in Iranian plots to use Israelis as spies in 2025 compared with 2024, which itself saw a 400% increase from 2023. Last year, 120 separate Iranian spying incidents were thwarted, including an IDF soldier from the Givati Brigade arrested in September under suspicion of spying for Iran. The indictment alleges the brothers sent photos and videos of important sites in Israel, including from within army bases, as well as information on weapons and armaments used by the IDF.
