Former Israel Navy chief V.-Adm. (res.) Eliezer "Chayni" Marom criticized Iran's direct attack on Israel as a strategic blunder that exposed Tehran's limitations. Speaking to 103FM, Marom argued the April 14 strike, which involved over 300 drones and missiles, stripped away ambiguity about Iran's role and forced regional actors to reassess their interests.

Marom characterized Iran's "promised hell" as revealing "pathetic" capabilities, noting most of the barrage was intercepted. The former navy chief said Tehran's decision to fire directly from Iranian territory damaged its deterrence and increased exposure, particularly as regional alliances shifted in response to the attack.

While warning against underestimating adversaries, Marom assessed that Iran's ability to deliver on threats is not as extensive as many Israelis believed. His comments come amid ongoing debate in Israel about Iran's remaining capabilities and the risks of escalation if diplomacy fails, with Marom cautioning that strategic surprises remain possible even when opponents appear exposed.
