Shaheem Snype, father of slain 16-year-old Jamariyae Dixon, repeatedly punched and kicked murder suspect Marion McKnight inside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The violent confrontation occurred Thursday after McKnight's release on a $100,000 bond for killing Dixon and shooting two others last spring. Emotions overwhelmed Snype upon encountering McKnight outside the courtroom, where he faces first-degree murder charges. 'He did what he had to do as a father,' Snype's aunt Susan Sherrill stated. 'Any father would've did the same thing.' The bond release sparked the courthouse meeting before a scheduled bond revocation hearing, which was postponed.

Dixon's mother, Lynnette, expressed mixed emotions upon seeing the video, smiling for the first time since her son's death. Snype was charged with misdemeanor assault after McKnight sought hospital treatment.
