Former MLB pitcher Dan Serafini, convicted of murdering his father-in-law in 2021, testified in his bid for a new trial. Under cross-examination, Serafini admitted he headed a faction of inmates known as 'White guys' while incarcerated. He confirmed he was 'the keyholder' in South Placer County Jail, a position he lost after a transfer.

Serafini also acknowledged disciplining inmates, including forcing one to do 500 burpees and others to exercise for 'scheming.' He denied ordering assaults but admitted to other punishments. This testimony, damaging his character, occurred as prosecutors presented evidence to deny his motion for a retrial. Serafini faces sentencing by February 20th if his retrial bid fails.
