The Ensign Group, led by siblings Chris, Victoria, and Alex Robinson, has acquired the legendary Pathfinder Ranches in Wyoming for an undisclosed sum, expanding their land holdings to 2.5 million acres across three states. The 916,000-acre property, larger than Rhode Island, was previously owned by Sammons Enterprises and had sparked widespread speculation about its new owners.

The Robinsons, Utah-based ranchers with pioneer ancestry dating back to 1944, already manage over 1 million acres and operate one of the largest cow/calf operations in the U.S. Their purchase includes iconic landmarks like Devil's Gate, Independence Rock, and portions of historic trails including the Oregon and Mormon Pioneer routes. The property also features the nation's first greater sage-grouse conservation mitigation bank.

Contrary to rumors of development or subdivision, the family plans to maintain the ranch's agricultural legacy while expanding their cattle operations. They intend to relocate a portion of their 13,000-head herd to the property, which encompasses working ranchland, vital water resources, and diverse wildlife habitat. The Robinsons emphasize their commitment to conservation, stating that production agriculture and environmental stewardship can coexist, continuing a family tradition that has shaped the American West for generations.

Quick Fact: The Pathfinder Ranches spans 1,431 square miles, larger than the state of Delaware.
