A Colorado Springs cemetery is demanding the removal of a headstone featuring raised middle fingers that has marked the graves of brothers Timothy and Ryan Geschke for five years. Evergreen Cemetery management ordered the family to remove the memorial, citing rules against profane or offensive imagery in public spaces.

The headstone, designed by the brothers' sisters Heidi and Holly Geschke, was intended as a symbol of family loyalty and love. The Geschke family was never informed of any rule violations when the memorial was installed five years ago, and Holly Geschke told _The Independent_ she never signed a contract acknowledging the cemetery's regulations. The sisters argue the middle finger imagery represents their family's character and bond rather than disrespect.

Cemetery manager Cheryl Godbout maintains the number of complaints is irrelevant once she became aware of the violation. While the cemetery offered to store the headstone for the family, the Geschke sisters refuse to comply and plan to fight the removal order. Holly Geschke told KOAA they may relocate their brothers' remains entirely rather than alter the memorial. The dispute has escalated toward potential legal action as the family vows to defend what they see as a deeply personal tribute to their loved ones.
