A security expert has identified a camera found on Nancy Guthrie 's roof as a potentially critical clue in her kidnapping investigation. Dan Donovan , founder of Stratoscope Holdings, told _Us Weekly_ that the camera's presence suggests premeditation and surveillance rather than an impulsive crime.

The discovery of the camera came as investigators revealed that ransom notes demanding $6 million in bitcoin had been sent to media outlets. Donovan warned that if the camera was placed by the kidnappers, it indicates an operational rather than emotional crime, potentially making the situation more dangerous. He noted that surveillance behavior suggests the perpetrators were monitoring entry points and police response patterns.

FBI agents reportedly recovered the wired camera during a search of Guthrie's roof, which had been overlooked in initial investigation days. The 84-year-old was reported missing in Arizona on February 1, with her daughter Savannah Guthrie and siblings publicly pleading for her safe return. The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed the investigation remains active with no suspects identified. As the second ransom deadline approaches, the camera evidence could prove pivotal in understanding the kidnappers' methods and potentially locating Guthrie.
