Brown University sophomore Annie Song died Tuesday at her residence hall on the Providence campus. The 19-year-old Washington state native was studying public health and policy with plans for a summer internship in Washington, D.C.

The cause of death remains undetermined, according to Providence police who found no obvious signs of trauma at the George Street residence hall. Police are investigating with the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners. A GoFundMe fundraiser established by friends has raised funds for funeral and transportation costs back to Seattle.

Song served as a Meiklejohn peer advisor and participated in multiple student organizations including the Infectious Disease Society and Korean American Students Association. The university community received a message from Vice President Pat Poitevien and Dean Ethan Pollock offering counseling services to grieving students. The university plans to hold memorial gatherings
