Bondi Faces Congress Over Epstein File Controversy

Attorney General Pam Bondi will testify before the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday amid mounting criticism over the Justice Department's handling of Jeffrey Epstein files. The hearing follows the release of over 3 million pages of documents that victims say exposed private information despite redaction efforts.

The controversy erupted after the Justice Department distributed binders to social media influencers at the White House last February, which contained no new revelations about Epstein. Democrats plan to question how the department decided what information to release under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed after officials initially announced no more files would be made public.

Lawmakers recently gained access to unredacted files in a Justice Department reading room, where they could review documents on four computers and take handwritten notes. While investigators found ample evidence of Epstein's sexual abuse of underage girls, an AP review revealed little proof of a broader trafficking ring involving powerful associates.
